6x6 Official Rules All tournaments will begin promptly at 8:00 AM, unless otherwise stated. There will be a brief captain's meeting at around 7:50 and waivers will need to be signed. Waivers will have to be signed before you can play and all fees paid before teams can play.
YOU MUST BE ON TIME! If you are not at the tournament on time, your matches will be forfeit. If a team does not show up, no refund will be given.
Teams will be divided into pools to be seeded for a single elimination tournament. Pool play matches will be two games to either 21 or 25 points (cap at 21 or 25) depending on the number of teams, etc. Tournament matches will be best of three, with first two games to 21 points (cap at 21) and third game, if necessary to 15 (no cap). Director has the right to change format if the tournament is running long. Every team will make the tournament.
Generally, tournament seeding will be determined by taken the top teams and seeding them based on their pool play finish. In the case of a tie where a win/loss record alone cannot determine a seeding, we will go to the following: Head to Head Point Differential Coin Flip Pool selection, tournament seeding, match length and divisions will be handled solely by the tournament director. (Please note: Teams are divided into pools randomly. Despite all efforts to create pools with an equal distribution of talent, the possibility exhists that one pool may seem stronger than another. There is no way to anticipate that and decisions on tournament seeding will be made based on the above criteria.)
Volleystrong girls will be there for the captains to report scores. They are not there to keep score or interpret rules. If there are any rules questions, they need to be made to the tournament director. DIRECTOR'S DECISIONS ARE FINAL!
No coolers or outside drinks can be brought into the Digz. The Digz will have their bar open and drinks can be purchased inside. ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL CAN BE BROUGHT INTO THE FACILITY! ANYONE CAUGHT WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE TOURNAMENT AND NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN!
There will be a five minute warm up before each match. Please take care to make sure the pool play is running on time!
Teams in your pool will ref. You must provide an up ref, down, ref, score keeper and line judges. If a team misses their reffing assignment, the reffing team forfeits their next match. Please follow the schedule and know where you are supposed to be. Please make sure the score sheets are correct!
All Games are rally scoring
Let serves count!
You must rotate into your first serve.
We will be playing under USA Volleyball rules.
There is no limit to the number of overhand serves.
This is a coed tournament, so if there is more than one contact, a girl has to be one of the contacts.
Teams will consist of six players. You can either play with 3 guys and 3 girls or 4 girls and 2 guys. No more than 3 guys is allowed. Teams can play with 5 but must play with a deadspot. When the deadspot (absent player) is up to serve, it results in a sideout for the opposing team. If playing with a deadspot, you must play as if the player is there in terms of positions. For example, a guy is missing and the deadspot is in the left front. A guy cannot come from what is technically the back row to attack the ball. See tournament director for clarification if this comes up.
Teams can play with play with two or three players. If three, then a girl must be one of them.
In the unlikely event that a player has to withdraw due to injury or work or other unforseen conflict, a player can sub that is not listed on the roster as long as it is agreed to by the opposing captain or the tournament director. Subs are not allowed from an upper level to a lower level tournament. If this cannot be resolved by the team captains, tournament director will make a decision based on the circumstances.
