VOLLEYSTRONG F.A.Q.

Question: Why should my daughter play for Volleystrong?
Answer: There are several club volleyball choices in the area. We started Volleystrong with one thing in mind: Teach the game of volleyball. The staff and coaches love the game and understand their roles as coaches, mentors and role models to the young people that we bring into our organization. Do not be fooled by our price. Our players get a high level of coaching, with focus on the fundamentals of the game and to teach them the game with tough, competitive practices as well as positive feedback so the players know how they are doing and what they need to work on to be the best players that they can be.

Question: What do I get with my entry fee?
Answer: You get: Uniform, Entry into a minimum of 8 area tournaments, practice facilities, and Volleystrong ''swag'' (practice shirts and stuff).

Question: Are there additional charges?
Answer: Players are recommended to get kneepads, volleyball shoes, or some type of court shoes and a gym bag. We will have Mizuno shoes and gym bags available for sale if desired. We will also have Volleystrong items for sale for parents and families. Most items can be personalized with your child's number on them. Also, any travel that we do is the responsibility of the families. Volleystrong 15s and 16s will be participating in Colorado Crossroads in March and the entry fee (last year $765/team) will be split by the families. The 12s teams will likely go to the Qualifier in Kansas City and the entry fee will also be split by the families. We will also register for the President's Day tournament at the Qwest Center. Entry fee for President's Day (Last year was $475/team) is extra and not included in the club entry fee. Rather than charge parents for coach's travel, we fundraise these amounts. Generally, parents are needed to work the tournament fundraisers. SEE BELOW ABOUT NATIONALS.

Question: Is there much travelling?
Answer: Each team will go to one Qualifier in either Colorado, Minnesota or Kansas City. Players will miss part or all of the Thursday or Friday from school and all of the Monday. We may travel to Blair for a tournament and to Lincoln but not much further. No additional travel will be planned unless discussed and agreed upon by the parents.

Question: How many players will be on a team?
Answer: Generally 9-10

Question: What is your philosophy on playing time?
Answer: Playing time is determined by the coaching staff of a particular team. In general, we feel that there should be starters and a bench. Starters and bench players are not set in stone and are based on performance in practices and games, attitude and ability. The same six starters in one tournament may not be the same six in the next tournament. In the past, there had never been a tournament where every player did not see time on the court. We do not select players just to have ''bodies'' on our teams. We expect each player to have a role on our teams. Because of this policy, it is important to understand the commitment of playing on a team, be at every practice and at every tournament. Each team is dependent on each and every player to be successful.

Question: What if a team makes Nationals?
Answer: Opportunities to go to Nationals are rare for a small club. If we get a Bid, we have to go or we are sanctioned by USA Volleyball. A bid to Nationals is based on our finish in a Qualifier or our local Bid tournament. If we get a bid, there will be an additional $300/player charge to cover practices and such plus travel). This will not take place until April and as indicated, are rare.
